The purpose of this survey was to obtain the existing conditions of the beach and near shore in support of the Joint Airborne LIDAR Bathymetric Technical Center of Expertise National Coastal mapping Program.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers collects (by themselves and contractors) and maintains LiDAR data including orthophotos in coastal areas of the United States and its territories. The Corps acquires this data in the course of performing its mission of Flood Control, Navigation, Environmental Engineering, and support for the Army and others. Digital orthophotos were produced with QuickBird high-resolution satellite imagery.

Acquisition
Archive and new acquisition QuickBird high-resolution satellite
imagery were acquired from DigitalGlobe in source OrthoReady 16-bit
format.
Processing
Source imagery was processed by LandInfo Worldwide Mapping LLC.
SHOALS-1000T and ALS-50 LiDAR bare-earth data were used as source
of elevation for the ortho-rectification process. The National
Elevation Dataset (NED) at 10m was also used when imagery extended
beyond LiDAR coverage. Final ortho-rectified 8-bit imagery is 0.60m
resolution (pan-sharpened multi- spectral) in MrSid format and converted to geotiff in ERDAS Imagine 9.1..
Dataset copied.

The Maine Office of GIS and the GeoLibrary Board provide web mapping services to distribute aerial photos and other digital data. A WMS is not a web application which you can see in a web browser; rather, it requires you to add the service to a GIS software application
