Filing a false complaint: Under Maine law it is a punishable crime to file a false complaint with a government agency. The Department is authorized to pursue legal action and seek prosecution for filing a false complaint.

Any complaints that are submitted after hours, weekends or holidays will be followed up during business hours.

**In order to investigate a foodborne illness, a name and contact information is needed for Maine CDC to appropriately follow-up with you. Per privacy and confidentiality laws and policies, the agency is not allowed to release your name if you have an illness.
