Beginner Farmer Resources

According to the USDA, a ‘Beginning Farmer or Rancher’ is someone who has operated a farm or ranch for 10 years or less. Here are links to some of the many excellent on-line resources for “beginning farmers” of all ages and varied life experiences.

Maine’s County Profiles from the USDA 2017 Census Agriculture

The United States Department of Agriculture conducts a national Census of Agriculture every five years. The next such census is taking place now! If you would like more information, got to USDA Census of Agriculture. Make sure you are counted in the census!
