NBT Bank, N.A., a national bank headquartered in Norwich, New York, notified the Superintendent of the Bureau of Financial Institutions, pursuant to Title 9-B M.R.S. §373, of its intent to establish a de novo branch in Maine. The proposed branch will be located at 191 Marginal Way in Portland, Maine.
In addition to providing notice to the Superintendent, the proposed branching activity also requires the applicant to file with the appropriate federal regulatory agency that has primary responsibility for the applicant, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (the “OCC”). If the Bureau finds that the proposed branching activity does not comply with applicable Maine law, it may file an objection with the OCC.
