Acting Commissioner Dale Doughty

Dale Doughty, named MaineDOT Acting Commissioner in Augusta 2025, has more than three decades of experience in transportation, public works, and municipal leadership. A Maine Certified Geologist, Dale began with MaineDOT in 1996. Over the next 22 years, he served in the Office of Environment and the Bureau of Planning before being appointed Director of the Bureau of Maintenance and Operations. In 2018, served as Public Works Director and later Deputy City Administrator for the City of Lewiston. Dale returned to MaineDOT in 2021 as Director of Public Outreach and Planning, and in 2022 was appointed Director of the Bureau of Planning. From 2022 to 2024, he helped guide the department's planning priorities before being named Deputy Commissioner in March 2024 to oversee department-wide policies and operations, advise the Commissioner, and support MaineDOT's multimodal responsibilities across the state.
