MaineDOT to Work on South Portland and Portland Intersections
Drivers should plan for minor delays.
PORTLAND– May 22, 2026 — Starting May 26, the Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) will begin work at South Portland and Portland intersections for roadway surface and ADA pedestrian ramp improvements.
The project begins at the intersection of Westbrook Street and Broadway in South Portland and ends at the intersection of Congress Street and Stevens Avenue in Portland.
The project work includes paving, crack sealing, pedestrian ramp improvements, and replacing traffic signal loop detectors.
Two-way traffic will be maintained on Maine Mall Road and Western Avenue.
During the project, drivers may encounter one-way alternating lane closures of 500 feet or less during the day.
Work is expected to be completed by October 2026.
The contractor on this project is All States Materials Group of Richmond, Maine.
The contract amount is $4,342,040.20
